This is a sure sign of Spring in Maine, buckets hanging on the Maple trees. Warm days and cold nights make the sap run in the trees. These buckets hang on a small tube inserted into a hole drilled a few inches into the tree. The sap that drips into the buckets is collected and boiled down to make maple syrup.
