an interesting picture my mother, Betty Dow, found of the students at the
Corinna Center School in 1944. Not everyone is identified below. Can

Second Row: Kitty Flag, ___, ___, ___, Martha Skillinger, Marcia Skillinger, Olive Shorey. Third Row: Milford Bemis, ___, ___, Shirley Page, ___, Henry Flag, Billy Sargent, Delores Tuttle. Fourth Row: Ronald Rockwell, Sally Robichaud, Janet Sawtelle. Fifth Row: Russell Summers, Sylvia Robichaud, Muriel Worthen, Connie Bagley, Betsy Sargent, Teacher Gracie Hooper. Sixth Row: Gladys Bemis, Edger Rockwell, Dorothy Bemis, Owen Bryson, Dana Doherty, Allen Bryson. Seventh Row: Mary Ellen, Omar Lampher, James summers, Kathleen Seaney, Billy Bemis, Clara Louise Doherty, ___, Betty Sawtelle, ___ Kittridge. At that time the Center School was a two-room school house. The Sub-primary through fourth grades were in one room. The fifth through eighth grades were in the other. There was a big crack in the floor of the lower grade classroom. In the winter cold wind would blow in through the crack. There was a two-sided outhouse in the back. |
