Lately, in Corinna...

August 9, 2002

As it has been for most of the past century, our Civil War Soldier stands in Winchester Park, above the village area of Corinna. If his eyes could see, these days, the view is flat, empty and open. Earth moving equipment comes and goes.

If he could speak, he would tell of progress, though. The worst part, the demolition, is done. This week the people of the area expressed support for the cleanup plan proposed by the EPA. It will take 30 to 60 years to restore the groundwater but the land will be usable soon, after the major construction of the cleanup plan is complete.
