Lately, in Corinna...

February 4, 2003

This is a photograph of Dr. Paul M. Fisher (1806-1876). According to Sawtell (1984) he was the first physician in Corinna. Born in Wrentham, Mass, he graduated from Harvard Medical School. While in Boston he met his wife, Mary M. Fifield of Corinna.

Dr. Fisher cleared a site and built a log cabin next to the cemetery at Morses Corner. At one time he owned the tavern known as the Corinna House. I think this may have become the Corinna Hotel located on Main Street.
