On the 23rd, in the Guest Book, Mary mentioned the potato blossoms in the area. She was right. The dark green plants are covered with flowers. This picture was taken that day in a potato field nearby. They have an earthly smell that some people find to be pleasant, others don't. But, they certainly are beautiful to see.

Different varieties have blossoms of different colors. Some are white. These have a lavender color with bright yellow centers. Potatoes are an important crop in this part of Penobscot County and north of here in Aroostook County.
