The first soil decontamination bed is completed and in full operation. Hot air is pumped through the soil and then filtered to remove the chemicals. In an extensive monitoring program workers gather data on temperature, air flow and chemical composition related to the process.

They will build three more decontamination beds like the one pictured above. The operation will take about 18 months to decontaminate the 75,000 cubic yards of soil in the stock pile.
