Here's a panorama of the village area taken from the fire escape on the Odd Fellows Hall, looking northwest. The worst of the bedrock contamination is located in the area behind the Route 7 bridge in this picture. This will be the focus of the groundwater extraction and treatment system to be designed and installed over the next two years. The soil decontamination facility is located further back on the concrete slab left after the mill was demolished. The EPA estimates they will be "cooking dirt" here until late 2004. The large black object in the background to the right of center is the pile of contaminated soil.
