Lately, in Corinna...

These pumps are located just in front of the Middle Dam on the north side of Main Street. They run all day and night, pumping the East Branch of the Sebasticook River around the cleanup site. The metal intake pipes extend through the dam in the background to pick up the river flow. The black pipes leading of the the left go under the street and down the side of the old river channel. The water is released back into the river bed well below the cleanup area.

Because of low rainfall amounts this Summer, the pumps have handled the river easily. Spring run-off however, will be a different story. Before long, the river will return to its old channel for one last season.
