This picture was taken from the bell tower of the Stewart Library Building on October 28, 2001. Notice the light-colored jersey barriers lined up with three orange barrels at the very bottom center of the picture. That is all that's left of the original Main Street. It used to go from there out across the open excavation. Looking across toward the Big Pile of Clean Dirt and the Odd Fellows Hall, you will see an excavator just beyond Route 7. That will be the location of the recreational trail bridge. The pilings are visible on either side of the river. Eventually the big hole on this side of Route 7 will be filled in and leveled. It will then be available for development.
