Lately, in Corinna...
January 24, 2000

This brick building, known as the "lower mill", is located South of Main Street along the East Branch of the Sebasticook River at the end of Mill Street. A spectacular fire destroyed all but this small section of the mill in the winter of 1950. At the time, it was called the Moosehead Woolen Mill and employed 350 people. The Dorman Brothers built the first mill at this location in 1874.

I don't know if this building will be involved in the clean-up. The fire stopped production here well before the time when the contamination occurred near Main Street.
