Work in the River Area

July 22, 2000

This picture was taken from the west side of the river on July 22, 2000. It shows the work done in the river bed area south of Main Street. The trees have been removed. The railroad trestle is completely exposed to view for the first time in many years. No water is running under the trestle.

From a different angle, from the east side of the channel, you can see why no water is running in the river. In preparation for the excavation of contaminated soil in the river bed, these pipes are carrying the river flow. Pumps at the Middle Dam are diverting the water around this entire section of the channel.
