The Last Time They Moved
the Odd Fellows Hall

October 18, 2000

The pictures below are 50 years old. My father took them while standing on West Main Street looking down onto Main Street. He was a teenager at the time and interested in photography. He developed them himself in his darkroom. They show the Odd Fellows Hall in four different positions when it was moved from the north side of the street to the south side.

They moved the building out into the street from the left, turned it, and then backed it into position on the right. The process actually took most of the summer because the work stopped for weeks due to some controversy with the movers. The building sat in the street blocking all but one lane of traffic.
