PUBLIC WEEKLY UPDATE

NON-TIME CRITICAL REMOVAL ACTION

EASTLAND WOOLEN MILL SITE

CORINNA, ME

 

The following summarizes WESTON's work completed on the Eastland Woolen Mill Site for week ending Friday January 5, 2000:

 

Safety Update:

  • Conducted daily safety inspections on the heavy equipment used on site.
  • Workers around the work areas continued to wear level D personal protective equipment.

 

Work Accomplished by WESTON:

  • Subcontractor oversight.
  • HLA drillers support.
  • Sampled carbon vessels.
  • Cleaned confined space entry equipment.
  • Performed snowmobile trail maintenance.
  • Continued snow removal and general housekeeping around the site.
  • Completed 54yd3 pour on west bridge abutment.
  • Completed sill repair/replacement on Odd Fellows Building.
  • Began preparing Odd Fellows basement for pour.

 

Two-week Projection:

The following summarizes the anticipated work to be completed for the next two week time period (January 8 through January 22):

  • Continue ongoing maintenance of erosion controls, construction fencing, and security fence around the work site.
  • Continue bridge construction.
  • Pour Odd Fellows Building cellar floor.
  • Install electricity and other utilities in Odd Fellows Building.
  • Monitor winter cover on contaminated soil stockpile.
