WEEKLY PUBLIC UPDATE

NON-TIME CRITICAL REMOVAL ACTION

EASTLAND WOOLEN MILL SITE

CORINNA, ME

 

The following summarizes WESTON's work completed on the Eastland Woolen Mill Site for week ending Friday January 19, 2000:

 

Safety Update:

  • Conducted daily safety inspections on the heavy equipment used on site.
  • Workers around the work areas continued to wear level D personal protective equipment.

 

Work Accomplished by WESTON:

  • Subcontractor oversight.
  • Re-route snowmobile trail to east side of pump house.
  • Continued snow removal and general housekeeping around the site.
  • Completed saw-cutting Odd Fellows basement slab.
  • Completed installing anchors between sill and Odd Fellows basement walls.
  • Cleaned bridge abutment form-work and sent off-site.
  • Began to construct and install deck shoring.
  • Continue installation of electrical connections in Odd Fellows basement.
  • Completed construction of interior stairs from Odd Fellows basement to first floor.
  • Began construction of retaining wall for outside stairwell to Odd Fellows basement.

 

Two-week Projection:

The following summarizes the anticipated work to be completed for the next two week time period (January 22 through February 5):

  • Continue ongoing maintenance of erosion controls, construction fencing, and security fence around the work site.
  • Continue bridge construction.
  • Complete installation of electricity and other utilities in Odd Fellows Building.
  • Complete construction of outside stairwell.
  • Monitor winter cover on contaminated soil stockpile.
