PUBLIC WEEKLY UPDATE

NON-TIME CRITICAL REMOVAL ACTION

EASTLAND WOOLEN MILL SITE

CORINNA, ME

 

The following summarizes WESTON's work completed on the Eastland Woolen Mill Site (Task Order 0001) for week ending Friday August 3, 2001:

Safety Update:

  • Conducted daily safety inspections on the heavy equipment used on site.
  • Workers around the work areas wore level B, C and D personal protective equipment.

 
Work Accomplished by WESTON and Subcontractor:

  • Screened soil and moved from old stockpile to new stockpile.
  • Excavated Cells in Area 4 Pump House Area using shoring system
  • Completed road and bridge.
  • Began excavation of Building 1A Area.
  • Continued site dust control.

 
Two-week Projection:

The following summarizes the anticipated work to be completed for the next two week time period (August 6 through August 17):

  • Complete Area 4 Pump House excavation.
  • Complete excavation of Building 1A Area.
  • Demolish Mill Foundations.
  • Begin Area 1 excavation.
  • Continue river diversion.
