Ninety-seven years before Main Street look remarkably like it did then. In those intervening years a bustling village and economic center grew and thrived. Generations lived and made their living here. Imagine how residents felt in 1903, standing in front of the Stewart Library Building looking down on the burned-out business area. They must have had some of the same feelings we have now looking at what has happened. Would they ever have predicted that a business like the mill would grow there to eventually employ 600 people? We don't know what it will be. And attempts to predict the future always contain a serious flaw...we don't really know what will happen. But something good will grow here if we do things right today. |
