This is a photograph
of Benjamin C. Moor[e]. It is also from the Stewart Library
Building Collection. I do not have his dates. Sawtell (1984)
says that in 1851 "Uncle" Ben Moore donated a lot in
town for the building of the Union Church, now known as the
Corinna Methodist Church.
I suspect that Benjamin was the
son of William Moore, Esq. William came to Corinna in 1816 and
bought the first grist and lumber mill in the village area from
the Ireland Brothers. For some time the village area was know as
Moore's Mills. William built a public house where the Stewart
Library Building now stands. It was later replaced by a tenement
building once called the Beehive. That building was later
destroyed by fire.
