Lately, in Corinna...

Most of the downtown cleanup area is visible in this aerial of Corinna village. The EPA now calls this area Operational Unit 1. The excavation of contaminated soil is essentially complete here. There are two small areas where significant contamination still exists underground but other methods will be used to deal with it. Over the next two summers, soil from this area will be decontaminated and put back in place. 

The flood plains and river sediment downstream from here are referred to as Operational Unit 2. These areas are also contaminated. We will hear much more about the downstream areas.
