Here's
an aerial taken June 24, 2000. The black plastic lining the square out
back shows up well. Notice some of the pilings that held up the
round-roof section are still in place in the water behind the dam.
The four buildings on Main Street
are clearly visible. The largest, the Odd Fellows Hall will be moved.
The others will be demolished along with the Sawtelle house around the
corner on the Newport Road (also visible above) and the Gould house, out
of the picture to the left.
Presently, the river runs under the
street and under the Odd Fellows Hall. The new river bed will cross the
Main Street area on this side of Henderson's Store, the white-roofed
building on Main Street in the picture.
