Another Klez Email Virus Warning The Klez email virus is still spreading. I've received at least one copy of it every day for two weeks. It's a sneaky one. The message and the name of the attachment in the email have been different every time. Below, on the right, is a copy of the version that came today.
It's the worst yet. A great example of human engineering. This is a fake warning. The file attached to this message was named sg.bat. It is not an immunity tool, it is the virus. If you double click to run it, you will be infected. Be suspicious when you see poor grammar, strange word choices and typing errors in the message. Remember, practice safe computing. Never open any email attachments unless the sender has previously arranged to send it to you and told you specifically what the filename will be. Particularly, do not open attachments that end in any of these extensions: .BAT .EXE .PIF or .SCR. It is the last three letters of the attachment filename that count. See the May 6 entry for more information. |
