Lately, in Corinna... September 24, 2000 |
In a ceremony at the Corinna Union Academy
Museum on September 23, the Corinna Historical Society presented a
bronze plaque honoring the sizable gift Col. and Mrs. Leslie Bolstridge
gave the society. The fund, established
by the Bolstridge family, enabled the local historical society to take
possession of the Corinna Union Academy Building. The gift not only
preserves the important local landmark, it also provides the society
with a home for the growing collection of historical objects and
materials.
During the presentation the Colonel's efforts were likened to those made by Levi Stewart to the town of Corinna over one hundred years ago. Residents spoke to thank the Colonel and his family for their many good works. In the photo you see Everett Simpson and David Carceri of the Corinna Historical Society standing with Col. Bolstridge holding the plaque. It reads, "To Forever Honor Col. Leslie J. Bolstridge and his wife Mary Lee Bolstridge for their gift to the Corinna Historical Society in loving memory of their daughter Mary Ann and in honor of Loren D. III their son." |
