Seeking the Falls
Part 3 - Finding The Falls
The woods grew cool and thick with evergreens as we moved down hill, picking our way through blowdowns. The sound of rushing water could be heard in the distance. We knew the stream was close by. Finally, Paco found the falls. He stood for a moment, surprised by what he saw.

The banks of the stream were very steep. In some places the drop was more than twenty feet to the bottom of the little ravine. The falls had two main parts, a more gradual upper falls and a steeper lower section.

At the bottom there was a large pool of still water. It was partly shaded by the trees and high banks. Patches of snow still lay in the darkest places.

It was a good day for Paco and me. Here you see him enjoying the beauty of the falls. His only regret was refusing to carry the provisions. He wished he hadn't left the Twinkies behind.
