Date: June 29, 2000 Name: Keith A. Matteson Location: Doylestown, PA Email: kmatteson@securitylink.com Comment: I signed the guest book a few months ago, so I decided to sign it again. I am getting married this weekend, and some of my family are traveling to PA from Corinna and Exeter: Betty Matteson, Wanda Dearborn, Jeannette Black, Vivian Matteson, and Marion Bennett.
I have also spoke via e-mail to Ken Chambers, who I found in the guest book, and he lives in Warrington, PA, which is only 5 minutes from
Doylestown. My father, Gene Matteson, who is originally from Exeter and a CUA graduate, and I are planning to meet Ken for coffee sometime in the near future.
Date: June 28, 2000 Name: Tom Koelker Location: N. Berwick, ME Email: tkoelker@yahoo.com Comment: Hi Ken et al, Great site! Mom and Dad put me onto it and Jon has been here, as well.
Nice photographs.
Say "Hi" to your family for me. Patsy and kids are all fine.
I did a site for Dad's church last year and now they are building a new church. You have inspired me to bigger and better things on the next update. I'll let you know how it comes out.
So good to see so many familiar names! I'd like to get in touch with Janet Hartley, if possible.
Jackie Emerson! How are you!?
Some of my fondest memories are of growing up in Corinna. The Hopkins' farm. Cookouts at the Dow's. Skating behind Sawtelle's. Bob Pearson's oil truck rides. The ice cream stand. Color TV at Ellen Pitcher's. Little League with Basil Osgood. The New Year's blizzard of '60. But mostly, just a lot of great people.

Date: June 27, 2000 Name: Marilyn Conway Location: Prague, OK Email: bmconway@brightok.net Comment: Ken, having that collection of aerial shots is a really great idea. I love being able to show friends out here where I grew up.
Have any of you ever considered what CUA looks like to someone who is not familiar with Corinna? One comment was "it looks like a southern plantation". But, everyone is impressed with what a unique and pretty building it is. Things we take for granted suddenly take on a new image if you look at it from a stranger's view. How many little rural, Maine towns have a Stewart Library Building! Now it won't have the mill buildings hiding it.
Keep the comments coming into the Guest Book, those are equally important to visitors to the Cat Tail Press web site as the photos are.
Date: June 27, 2000 Name: Rev. & Mrs Don Mathewson Location: Englewood, Florida Email: dgmath@earthlink.net Comment: We both want to thank you for the beautiful pictures and for keeping us up to date as to the work being done in Corinna.
We used to live in E. Corinth many years ago and had good friends in Corinna so we went back and forth.
So come the end of August we trust to be traveling up that way once again and hope to find the one waterfall along the Exeter Road while we are up that way.
Again thanks for the beautiful work. Don and Gladie
Date: June 25, 2000 Name: Jackie Emerson Location: Corinna Email: jemer@tdstelme.net Comment: Hi Kenny Just checked in to your website to see what's new in town. Believe you have the wrong picture for the date June 17 on today's entry. A picture of the Academy came up when I clicked on the date. Keep up the good work. A word to all fellow CUA alumnus out there in e-mail land. At the annual CUA alumni banquet last weekend over $300 was raised/pledged toward bricks for the new park in the 'New Corinna'. A motion was made for the Association to purchase a brick and then the ball just started to roll. One class and then another would purchase a brick. Individuals in classes purchased bricks too. Let's get on the ball and send in your $$$ for a brick [either individually or as a class].
Jackie- I did have the link wrong. Thanks for pointing it out. -Ken
Date: June 21, 2000 Name: Eddie & Shirley Brodeur Location: Gardiner, ME Email: brodeurs@juno.com Comment: Hi Ken,
Just wanted to say a quick "Hello" and tell you how glad we were to meet you and your wife at the CUA Open House. The CUA museum has such interesting memorabilia and we enjoyed our time there. Was also glad to see you finally meet my son, Pete Smith, who has been sending the terrific postcards to your website.
Keep up the good work. It keeps us informed through pictures of the day-to-day progress with the Corinna revitalization project.
Date: June 21, 2000 Name: Patti Hall Location: Meriden, CT Email: PHall43823@aol.com Comment: Tuesday June 20, 2000
I just visited your city. I went to visit my cousin. The weather was perfect for the days that I was there. Good clean air to breath and was able to relax and appreciate the scenery and nature's beautiful animals that sometimes we seem to forget or take for granted. My cousin showed me your website and am very impressed. The pictures you have are wonderful. I am planning to come up again in September.
The six hours that it takes is really worth the trip.
Date: June 20, 2000 Name: Marilyn Conway Location: Prague, OK Email: bmconway@brightok.net Comment: Great story about the CUA bell. Little ol' Corinna is just full of mysteries - you've just solved one of them. Great job on the yoke for the bell, it looks very nice.
Thanks for the story Ken.

Date: June 19, 2000 Name: sylvia welch pearson Location: old town me Email: nanasyl@banet.net Comment: i would like to respond about the restaurant next to the mill back in 1946. i met my future husband in this place in december of 46 we married in 1948 and as my husband did not have a car he rented a taxi from the clukey brothers for one week so we could go way up to greenville on our honeymoon!!! so i know there was a taxi service in corinna. so many memories brought back by this. also my son in florida mentioned bricks to me. where can i find this information ? thanks
Sylvia - Here's a link to the paving bricks information "Be Part of the Rebuilding" By the way, the engraved bricks are $50. It costs $25 to have the engraved brick made. The rest of the $50 will be used to pay other expenses in the construction of the park. -Ken
Date: June 19, 2000 Name: C.R."Bing" Grindle Location: Roanoke, Virginia Email: crgrindle@worldnet.att.net Comment: Hi, Ken and everyone,
Just want to stay in touch. Really enjoyed today's (June 18th) picture since it shows that green grass corner in the lower right part of the picture with the large decorative stones where my Grandfather Dr. Fred L. Redman's house used to be, the house you and your grandfather later lived in for awhile, Ken. My wife, Geri, and I plan to be in Maine sometime this fall. We'll bring that music recital program listing the piano pupils of my Mother Elvira Redman since someone wrote some time ago saying she would like it for the Corinna historical society. I also have some photos of the house mentioned above which you might like to see, Ken. Between now and when I get to Corinna this fall I need to know how to arrange when and where to meet you and/or that historical society lady.
Time goes by so fast when you're 75 fall will be here before we know it!
Best regards from Bing Grindle

As a child I visited with my grandmother (Mertie Hilliker) and then taught a CJH from 1970-1980, so I have many fond memories of Corinna.
My son, Jeff, who is in the Air Force in
Germany, is also enjoying the site.
Thanks for all of your hard work.
Sincerely, Beverly Moody
Date: June 15, 2000 Name: Marilyn Conway Location: Prague, OK Email: bmconway@brightok.net Comment: I would be interested in knowing how many students from the classes of 1955, 1956, 1957, and 1958 are on the Internet. Evelyn Brooks does a really good job of keeping up to date on everyone's addresses, but a list of e-mail addresses would be an interesting and useful list to have. Does anyone have an idea how we might go about creating such a list?
Date: June 12, 2000 Name: Michelle and Ryan Stankevitz Location: Mooresville North Carolina Email: MLs2050@AOL.com Comment: Ken we were in town last week to visit and couldn't believe what it looked like was a shock coming up rt 7 from Newport even with checking your site daily still was a lot different than i had pictured. It is wonderful to keep up with the progress of it all. Where is the park going to be located when it is done? keep up the good work.
Date: June 12, 2000 Name: Marilyn Conway Location: Prague, OK Email: bmconway@brightok.net Comment: Ken that photo of you in the clock is hilarious! I got a real kick out of it and think you should hire your dad to be a roving photographer!
Date: June 11, 2000 Name: Rosalie (Davis) Blair Location: Silver Spring, Maryland Email: cbrnb@worldnet.att.net Comment: Logged onto the site for the first time today; heard about it from my Dad (Bob Davis of Corinna).
I really enjoyed the look into Corinna's past and am amazed at how things are today. You did a great job, Ken! (Not sure but I think you were in the same class as my sister, Miriam). I'm a '75 Graduate of Nokomis - "Hello" to all my classmates.
I hope you'll continue to keep us updated; I'm looking forward to seeing the progress!
Date: June 11, 2000 Name: Brian Knowles Location: Greenville SC Email: bpknowles@aol.com Comment: Still enjoy checking in regularly, very much appreciate all your efforts to keep everyone informed and up to speed with all that is happening. We had a chance to see everything first hand at Memorial. Corinna may have lost a major employer but that was becoming inevitable and the future should offer many opportunities with a totally revitalized downtown.
Several weeks ago you showed pictures of Main Street in the early 60's I think and asked if people could identify the stores at that time. I never saw a response. I thought I could name them all but realized I was missing a few. What's the names?
Thanks for all your time and efforts.
Brian

My mom (Judy Doore) keeps me informed of the progress but words cannot describe what the pictures show. Residents of Corinna (past and present) are fortunate to have a web page to keep them up-to-date of the work being done. Keep up the good work.

Sue and I really enjoy it, even though we see the town everyday. Its great to see so many different names showing up in the guest book. Most of them I know, a few I should, but may have forgotten about, and the rest we may get to know when they come to visit the new, improved Corinna. Pass on our congratulations to Cory. We wish him good luck in whatever he does.

Date: June 4, 2000 Name: Helen Stewart Location: Corinna, ME Email: ghstw@tdstelme.net Comment: Dear Ken;
Yes, Corinna did have a cab service which was owned and operated by Bill & Russ Clukey, the sons of Pop Clukey. They also ran a restaurant under the Old Fellow building. Jones Food market was next door. They were both on the ground floor the same side of the street as the mill. Worked at the restaurant at the age of 13 washing dishes, etc, for $10.00 a 45 hour work week.
