NON-TIME CRITICAL REMOVAL ACTION
EASTLAND WOOLEN MILL SITE
CORINNA, ME
The following summarizes WESTON's work completed on the Eastland Woolen Mill Site for week ending Friday December 01, 2000:
Safety Update:
- Conducted daily safety inspections on the heavy equipment used on site.
- Conducted air monitoring in work areas (30,000 gallon UST, Odd Fellows foundation and bridge excavation area).
- Workers around the work areas continued to wear level D personal protective equipment.
Work Accomplished by WESTON:
Moved frac tanksWater treatment plant winterization. Removed 30,000 gallon UST from Area 4 and collected additional soil samples. Installed winter cover on soil stockpile. Abandoned 2 bedrock wells in the area of the new bridge and roadway. Completed access road near cemetery. Continued work on Odd Fellows Building new foundation (waterproofing and CMU installation). Continued work on abutment forms and rebar. Abutment footing #1 placed 12/1/00.
Two-week Projection:
The following summarizes the anticipated work to be completed for the next two week time period (December 4 through December 15):
- Return piping and pumps no longer necessary for river diversion pumping.
- Continue ongoing maintenance of erosion controls, construction fencing, and security fence around the work site.
- Continue bridge construction.
- Monitor winter cover on contaminated soil stockpile.
