Lately, in Corinna...

Looking west from the recreational trail just north of town, this is a view of the contaminated soil stock pile. The containment area sits just above the Corundel Dam and covers about an acre. It holds the 75,000 cubic yards of soil excavated from the cleanup site. The soil, covered by black tarps, is contaminated with chlorobenzene compounds that were used in the process of dyeing cloth at the Eastland Woolen Mill during the 1960's. Decontamination of this soil will begin this summer. The process will take at least 18 months to complete.
