Things are quiet at the cleanup site. The EPA anticipates setting up for the season's work in late May. Full scale thermal treatment of the contaminated soil will start by mid-summer and run until winter. The extension of the Nokomis Road to Route 7 should be complete by mid-summer. Backfilling of the excavations will go on throughout the season, staring on the south side of Route 7 and then working in the main excavation area shown in the picture above. The soil treatment and backfilling will probably take 2 years to complete.
