Lately, in Corinna... August 8, 2000 |
Here's the scene in Area 3. The backhoe digs out the contaminated soil and loads it on to the dump trucks. After loading, the outside of the trucks are washed to remove any contamination before they travel across Main Street to dump the load in the soil stock pile area. To be sure no contamination is spread from the stock pile area, the trucks are then washed again before crossing back over Main Street to get another load. The contaminated soil in the stock pile area will eventually be treated with hot air to remove as much of the contamination as possible. Clean soil will be used to fill in the excavation holes. |
