Lately, in Corinna...

One consequence of the Superfund cleanup in Corinna is the closing of the railroad right-of-way trail that runs through town. The trail, used year-round by hikers, bikers, four wheelers, dirt bikers and snowmobilers goes directly across Areas 2 & 3 and the construction path of the new route 7. It will be closed until sometime next year.

The cleanup will breach the trail in two places. The railroad trestle will be removed and the new river channel will cross it. This is bad news, especially for snowmobilers this winter. But, the good news is, before the cleanup is complete, the trail will be made whole again. Construction plans call for trail restoration across the removed trestle area and a recreational bridge over the new river channel.
