Now
here's the good news. Although the fire caused extensive damage to the
roof and two rooms upstairs in the Corinna Union Academy Museum, most of
the building contents are not damaged. These pictures, taken yesterday, show the room just
below the fire. Somehow, while they were saving the building, the
firefighters were also able to cover most the artifacts with tarps. The
place is a mess. There will be lots of cleanup work to do. But, thanks
to an amazing job by our local fire departments, almost everything is okay.
The fire marshal has confirmed that the fire was caused by a lightning strike. |
