The first building now on
Main Street is often called the Hoyt Building. Lately it housed
an auto parts store and, most recently, Simply Stuffe. I
remember it being an insurance office, long ago. Before that it
was a hardware store. I recall there was a veterinarian in the
back. |

This picture from Peter Smith's collection
of post cards shows the same building sometime before 1912. The Realty
Block had not yet been built at the further end of the street.
According to the handwritten caption it was called the Post Office
Corner at that time. Notice the open grill-work to the left of the
building. That is a guardrail on the bridge.
